An update on the legal situation of the nine people who were arrested Thursday in Huntsville, TX. during protestsagainst the execution of Shaka Sankofa.
Eight of the nine anti-death penalty activists who were arrested Thursday during protests against the execution ofShaka Sankofa have been released from the Walker County Jail on $1,000 bail. They were charged with disorderlyconduct for running through a police barricade moments before Sankofa's scheduled 6 p.m. execution.

Statement From Leonard Peltier
Leonard Peltier is a member of the Lakota Nation and the American Indian Movement. In 1975, Peltier and otherAIM members set up a traditional encampment on the land of his friends the Jumping Bulls near Oglala on the Pine Ridgereservation in South Dakota. The encampment was raided on June 26, 1975 by FBI, BIA police and SWAT teams, allheavily armed and looking for an eighteen-year old who had allegedly stolen a pair of cowboy boots. In the firefight, AIMmember Joe Killsright, FBI special agent Ronald Williams, and FBI SWAT member Jack Coler were fatally shot.
